Clinical trials are scientific research studies designed to find better ways to treat or prevent diseases and to test the safety and effectiveness of different medicines. The studies provide access to the most up to date use of medications for various ailments. Most studies test medications that are already in use and that are FDA approved. The studies evaluate the medication for use in certain populations and with other conditions, to improve our understanding of which drugs work best for different groups of patients.

Patients enrolled in clinical trials follow a prescribed set of visits to their medical team as well as a set treatment course for a specific time period. During that time, they may be asked to complete surveys about their symptoms and well being. Patients are typically compensated for their time and receive their medical care related to the trial at no cost.
